Lehman H.S. students, teachers rally against budget cuts

THE BRONX - With the deadline for Mayor Michael Bloomberg's final budget looming, students and teachers at Lehman High School say they are doing everything they can to put a stop to his plans to cut teachers and school resources.

Parents, students and teachers rallied today to save the school, which is considered failing by city standards, from cuts in staffing and funding for activities such as football and music programs.

Organizers of the rally say students at the school have earned $7.2 million in scholarships as well as national recognition for their work.

The mayor has until the end of this month to finalize his budget.
