THE BRONX - A local educator is helping to unearth some of the Hispanic history in The Bronx.

Angel Hernandez is the education coordinator for the Bronx County Historical Society. He was born and raised in the borough, but his parents were born in Puerto Rico.

Hernandez says a lot of people don't realize that Latinos have been living in The Bronx since the 1800s and believes it's important to spread information because of the large Hispanic population today.

Hernandez is one of several people News 12 The Bronx will feature as part of Hispanic Heritage Month this October.
