Loved ones attend funeral for Sheppard

THE BRONX - ? Friends, family and fans said goodbye to longtime New York Yankee announcer Bob Sheppard today at his funeral in Long Island.

The death of Sheppard was closely followed by the loss of another Yankee powerhouse, franchise owner George Steinbrenner.

The Yankees say they will wear patches on theiruniforms honoring the memory of Steinbrenner and Sheppard.

The Steinbrenner patch will be worn on the frontof the jerseys. The Sheppard patch will be worn on the Yankees'left sleeve and includes a microphone.
