Loved ones lost in fire remembered

THE BRONX - Many lit candles and brought flowers to the memorial site of those lost during the ?Happy Land? social club fire in 1990.

Thursday marked the 20th anniversary of the fire which killed 87 people at an unlicensed social club called ?Happy Land.? Fire officials say the victims were unable to get out because the club had only one exit.

Many attended a memorial Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where the names of all 87 victims were read out loud. Loved ones vowed they would fight for regulations so such tragedies would not occur again.
