THE BRONX - Luis Guzman was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a 20-year-old college student over 50 cents and a cellphone.

Guzman is the first of three convicted suspects to be sentenced in the 2011 murder and robbery.

In August 2011, 20-year-old Wilmer Hernandez and his 16-year-old brother Stephen were buying snacks at a deli in Allerton when Guzman and two other men stole Stephen's cellphone. When Hernandez stepped in to defend his brother, he was shot three times in the stomach.
