Macy's workers reach tentative agreement

(AP) - Macy's and the union representing workers at its flagship Manhattan store and three other New York locations have reached a tentative contract agreement

NEW YORK - (AP) - Macy's and the union representing workers at its flagship Manhattan store and three other New York locations have reached a tentative contract agreement following all-night negotiations.

The union and Macy's announced that the five-year pact wasreached Thursday morning.

It must still be ratified by the more than 4,000 workers withLocal 1-s of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union.

On Monday, the workers had voted to strike if a new contract wasnot reached by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

The other stores are in the Bronx, Queens and WestchesterCounty.
