THE BRONX - Dozens of mailboxes broken into last week in a Bronx apartment building have now been repaired as police continue to search for the suspect.

A man was seen on surveillance video early in the morning on Feb. 11, ripping the 60 mailboxes from their hinges and going through the mail inside, tearing some of the envelopes open. 

The building's superintendent says the Postal Service has repaired most of the mailboxes, though some of the severely damaged ones will need an outside contractor to come in for more repairs. Tenants say they're relieved because they've had to walk nearly a mile for the past week to the post office to get their mail.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
