THE BRONX - A man is accused of pistol whipping a deli employee in the head during a robbery in the Bronx, police say.

The incident happened on Dec. 26, inside the West Tremont Deli and Grocery store on West Tremont Avenue around 12:40 a.m.

Police say the suspect walked into the store armed with a gun and began removing money from the cash register from behind the counter.

When he was finished looting the register, he ordered a 40-year-old deli worker to give him more cash.

However, when the deli employee had no more cash to give, police say the suspect struck him over the head with a gun.

The suspect found a safe and removed it from the business. The employee suffered a small laceration to the head and was treated at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
