Man charged in slaying of Bronx woman

THE BRONX - Police have arrested a Bronx man in the stabbing death of a young mother in St. Mary's Park.

Authorities charged 35-year-old Dennis Raymond with second-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Nimzay Aponte, who was killed Tuesday. Police say a man who was sitting with Aponte on a St. Mary's Park bench was also attacked and stabbed in the arm.

Police say Raymond and Aponte had met online through a chat service.

Witnesses allege Aponte was followed to the park by Raymond, who allegedly flew into a rage when he spotted her sitting on a bench with another man and then stabbed them both.
