THE BRONX - A 35-year-old man from Jersey City, N.J. was crushed to death after a refrigeration unit fell on top of him outside Bronx Lebanon Hospital just before 11 a.m. today.

Officials say two men were trying to load the large unit onto a tractor-trailer when one of the straps holding it broke, trapping Tristan Mananghaya underneath it for about 30 minutes.

Once Mananghaya was rescued from underneath the refrigeration unit, he was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
