Emergency officials say the 48-year-old was found in cardiac arrest.

THE BRONX - A man is dead following an alleged scuffle with police inside a bodega in Woodlawn.

According to emergency officials, a 48-year-old man was found in cardiac arrest at Jerome Conveniences Corp Store on Jerome Avenue at around 10 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to North Central Bronx Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses say a confrontation occurred when officers accused the man of taking drugs. EMS also said it appears the man swallowed some drugs.

The man's name has not yet been released, and the incident is under investigation.
