THE BRONX - Police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a 47-year-old man in front of his Highbridge home Sunday night.

According to investigators, Ernest Brown was hit in the torso at 1348 Webster Ave. at around 8:30 p.m. He was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he died.

Brown's mother says the victim had a drug problem and believes the murder was both intentional and drug-related. She says Brown has been beaten up multiple times since late July and had just gotten out of the hospital.

Cops say there is no known motive and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
