THE BRONX - A 45-year-old man was left with minor injuries after being attacked on a northbound D train at the 170th Street-Grand Concourse station on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say two suspects approached the man, punched him and attempted to stab him in the face with a screwdriver. The victim suffered minor injuries, but was otherwise in fine condition.

Neighborhood straphangers say the area gets very dark and they rarely see officers on patrol. Some say they are used to hearing about attacks that take place at night, but are stunned to learn that this incident occurred in the afternoon.

Detectives are still searching for the suspects.
