MOTT HAVEN - Almost four years after the body of a baby was found in a trash chute in Mott Haven, the baby's father was sentenced in the newborn's killing.

Juan Rodriguez, 35, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for manslaughter in the killing of his 6-week old baby, Giovanna.

Rodriguez admitted that he slammed the baby's head against the crib, killing her.

The baby's mother had, in May of 2007, admitted to illegally disposing of the body and served six months in jail followed by five years of probation.
