VAN NEST - Police sources say a man was shot in the leg by police after striking an officer with his car. The man then led police on a chase before crashing his car.

Police say the man was stopped on Grand Avenue and West 183rd Street around 5 p.m. when he hit a police officer with his car. A shot was fired, hitting the man in the leg, and the driver took off.

The driver ended up getting into an accident at the intersection of Van Nest and Matthews avenues and was arrested. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition.
