KINGSBRIDGE - Police are searching for the man they say tried to rape a woman in Kingsbridge Monday morning.

Police say the suspect tried to rape a 47-year-old woman near West Kingsbridge Road and Webb Avenue. They say the man, who was caught on video, grabbed the victim and pulled down her pants. Police say the woman fought back by screaming and punching her attacker.

According to police, the suspect ran off right past a school, leaving some parents on edge.

This incident is the latest in a disturbing trend. NYPD data shows that rapes in the Bronx are up 9.8 percent over the last year. Misdemeanor sex crimes are up 27.5 percent.
