Managers: Belmont bookstore likely entering final chapter

THE BRONX - A religious bookstore that's been serving the Belmont community for decades may be on its last legs because of the slumping economy. Managers at Mount Carmel Catholic Books and Gifts say they are slashing prices and have stopped ordering new merchandise. They say unless an investor steps forward before the end of the year, it could be the last chapter for the bookstore.
