THE BRONX - The Co-op City housing complex is among 16 New York City buildings whose tenants have been told to stay off balconies because they are unsafe.

The Department of Buildings' order will affect 1,000 apartments in the sprawling Bronx complex. DOB safety inspections have been conducted on 530 buildings citywide so far.

The balconies will be temporarily closed until they can be fixed.
