A mother of three is in severe condition at Jacobi Medical Center after being struck by a teen driver a few yards from her home

Eyewitnesses say the woman was scooped up onto the hood, cracking the windshield and then was thrown off into the street after the driver hit the brakes.

THE BRONX - A mother of three is in severe condition at Jacobi Medical Center after being struck by a teen driver a few yards from her home Wednesday night.

Police say that Maria Lucaj, 55, was crossing the intersection at Neil Avenue and Williamsbridge Road when she was hit by a 19-year-old driver making a left into the intersection.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was scooped up onto the hood, cracking the windshield, and then was thrown off into the street after the driver hit the brakes.

The mother was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center.

Police say the driver is not facing any charges at this time.
