THE BRONX - Mark Gjonaj is still on a high from his primary win.

Gjonaj, a real estate developer, shocked many when he defeated Naomi Rivera in the primary for the 80th District Assembly seat.

Making community outreach a top priority, Gjonaj was able to outraise the scandal-embroiled Rivera in campaign money. His popularity then grew as he began to host barbecues every Sunday to listen to concerns from Bronx residents.
