Mass transit service in chaos because of blizzard

THE BRONX - New Yorkers faced a treacherous commute Monday due to the blizzard that blanketed the borough.

New York City's commuter trains and subways experienced a variety of problems, from disabled trains to service suspensions.

NYC Transit reported suspensions or delays throughout the subway system. Spokeswoman Deirdre Parker says its buses were experiencing problems in all five boroughs, especially on snow-filled hilly streets. The Department of Sanitation is assisting where needed.

Many Bronx residents resorted to traveling on foot to get where they needed to go. AP wire services were used in this report.
