THE BRONX - Mayor Bill de Blasio is honoring six Department of Transportation workers who jumped into action when a small plane made an emergency landing in the Bronx over the weekend.

De Blasio invited the crew to City Hall Monday to personally thank them for their efforts.

The city employees were on their way to fix a pothole on the Major Deegan Expressway when they saw the plane coming down. They quickly stopped traffic to make a runway of sorts for the landing.

The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating what led to the plane’s trouble.
