THE BRONX - Mayor Michael Bloomberg was in the borough to break ground on a $62 million restoration project for the High Bridge.

The pedestrian footpath, which connects The Bronx and Manhattan, has been closed for 40 years. However, residents will be able to cross the bridge at West 170th Street and University Avenue in 2014.

Rep. José E. Serrano (D-The Bronx) joined Bloomberg for the announcement. He says he wants to see a 5K race cross the bridge when it reopens.
