Mayor’s office releases data on murders, shootings; NYC on track to break record

THE BRONX - The mayor's office released new numbers Tuesday showing New York City is on track to break last year's record for the lowest number of murders and shootings.

This year has seen 77 fewer murders compared to the same time last year. There have been 213 in 2013 compared to 290 in 2012.

When it comes to shootings in general, there have been 249 fewer this year; 708 compared to 957 at this point last year.
