THE BRONX - The city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene briefly shut down a popular McDonald's restaurant on University Avenue.

The department says it deemed the restaurant a public health hazard because of a mice and fly infestation.

News 12 spoke to customers who say they've seen rodents scurrying outside.

In March, the eatery received an "A" grading after six sanitation violations were found, which included flies in nonfood and food areas.

News 12 reached out to McDonald's. The corporation says the restaurant on University Avenue is open again.
