THE BRONX - A Medal of Honor plaque has been finally been awarded to commemorate a soldier who sacrificed his life in the Vietnam War.

Carlos James Lozada was killed in November 1967 while protecting his platoon. He received the Medal of Honor posthumously two years later. Until now, Lozada's award has never been displayed.

The Mitchell Community Center was presented with Lozada's plaque on Friday.

Lozada also has a park named after him in Mott Haven.
