THE BRONX - A men's homeless shelter in Wakefield has 24-hour security, but people living in the area say that's not enough after its director was killed.

The 47th Precinct led a crowded community board meeting Wednesday to discuss what long-term measures are being taken to boost security at the Project Renewal Homeless Shelter for Men.

City Council member Andrew Cohen attended the meeting, and told News 12 he was shocked that police didn't provide more answers. He and other elected officials have reached out to Mayor Bill de Blasio about their safety concerns, but have not yet heard back.

Former resident West Spruill has been arrested for allegedly shooting shelter director Ana Charle as she left work last month.
