THE BRONX - The owner of the historic Melrose Courthouse wants to bring the historic building back to life.

Henry Weinstein bought the landmark building in 1999 for $300,000. It had been vacant for more than 30 years after the city shut it down. Weinstein now envisions a school, day care center or library taking up the space.

The plans Weinstein drew up for the abandoned building were approved by the Department of Buildings. He would like to see the property developed in the coming months, so the neighborhood can utilize it by the end of next year.
