MELROSE - Three Melrose business owners are left to pick up the pieces after a four-alarm fire destroyed their livelihoods on Sunday.

The flames whipped through a bodega, a computer repair shop and an office on Jackson Avenue. The fire also destroyed apartments above the businesses, leaving 11 families displaced. No residents were injured, but three firefighters and two police officers suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say it may have started in one of the affected apartments.

The displaced families are being helped by the Red Cross.
