Members of Bronx Polar Bear Club take annual plunge at Orchard Beach to raise health awareness
THE BRONX - Under the veil of cloudy skies threatening to bring snow upon their heads, several brave Bronx residents took a plunge into freezing waters.
Members of the Bronx Polar Bear Club donned their bathing suits to take an icy dip at Orchard Beach for their fourth annual fitness plunge. The group is committed to raising awareness on health in the borough, no matter the weather conditions.
One couple extended their Valentine's Day by taking the plunge together. They had been mentally preparing for the moment for months and incorporated stripping down and rolling around in snow as part of their regimen.

The club says the cold weather has no effect of their ultimate goal -- promoting healthy actions and getting fit.
