THE BRONX - Through the help of several agencies and local banks, the Miah family was able to purchase a new Parkchester home.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the first-time homeowners outside their three-bedroom condominium.

The Miahs were able to buy their first home through the neighborhood housing services. The program provides financial and counseling support for people looking to become first-time homeowners.

The family was able to receive a $30,000 grant with the help of a Wells Fargo bank and several other organizations to provide the down payment. They say they are thrilled to purchase a new home in a good neighborhood.

The family says that once they signed up for neighborhood housing services, it took less than six months to become home buyers.
