Carrion, the former Bronx borough president, says he hopes to become the first Latino mayor of New York City (4/11/13)

THE BRONX - Conservative commentator Michael Reagan is urging Republican leaders to put Adolfo Carrion on the GOP ticket for mayor.

Reagan says giving Carrion permission to run in the primary on the Republican line would strike a note of openness and diversity for the party, which aims to attract Latino voters.

Carrion, the former Bronx borough president, says he hopes to become the first Latino mayor of New York City. He was previously a registered Democrat, but currently isn't affiliated with any party.
