THE BRONX - A Bronx woman's boyfriend allegedly killed her and rolled her body out of her apartment in a shopping cart, investigators said Tuesday.

Miguel Bonilla, 44, was arraigned on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

Prosecutors accused him of killing his girlfriend, 52-year-old Juana Alvarez, who was reported missing on Aug. 9. According to investigators, she actually went missing earlier than that — in July.

Bonilla allegedly stabbed Alvarez, listened to music, stabbed her again and threw her in a closet with a towel over her face to mask the smell. Then he allegedly rolled her out in a shopping cart and tossed her body in the trash.

The two lived together in a Grand Concourse apartment, according to police. They received a tip on Monday that indicated Bonilla admitted to a friend that he had killed Alvarez.

Investigators went to the apartment and obtained surveillance video that appeared to show Bonilla wheeling what they believe is Alvarez's body out of the building.

At around the same time, transit police arrested Bonilla in Penn Station for allegedly jumping a turnstile. The officers discovered he was wanted in Alvarez's slaying and brought him to the Bronx for his arraignment.

In court, prosecutors said Bonilla again admitted to stabbing Alvarez to death during videotaped confessions.
