THE BRONX - An elderly woman is in serious condition after the minivan she was in crashed into an auto repair shop in the Bronx yesterday. The accident occurred this afternoon at Mr. Michael's Auto Interior on East Tremont Avenue. The son of 71-year-old Altagracia Torres says he was driving her home from the dentist when he double parked to run into a nearby store. He says he then heard a loud crash and saw the vehicle had crashed through the shop's garage. Witnesses say Torres must have hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. Torres' son says his mother had six teeth pulled and that he told her not to touch the car and that he was driving. She was taken to St. Barnabus Hospital.
