Missing BX baby reunited with family after more than 20 years

THE BRONX - Police say a newborn snatched from a city hospital has been reunited with her biological mother morethan 23 years later.

Police say Carlina White disappeared from Harlem Hospital in1987 after her mother, Joy White, took her there because of afever.

In recent years, Carlina, who was raised in Bridgeport, Conn. asNejdra Nance, became convinced she was adopted. She found a babyphotograph that resembled her on a missing children website andcontacted Joy, who contacted police.

A DNA test was performed by New York City Police missing persondetectives. It turns out Nejdra Nance was Carlina, all grown up.

Family members say they reunited with the woman over theweekend, and she was coming back from Atlanta to New YorkWednesday.
