THE BRONX - A man pleaded guilty today in a 2012 fatal hit-and-run on the Mosholu Parkway.

Mitchum Williams pleaded guilty to a felony charge of leaving the scene without reporting the crash to police. On Christmas Eve 2012, Williams admitted to hitting and killing 23-year-old Josbel Rivera before leaving the scene.

Williams apologized to Rivera's family, but they say they have mixed feelings about his apology. Rivera's brother says he was hoping for a stiffer charge like vehicular manslaughter.

City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez (D-Manhattan) says he'll be supporting new legislation in Albany to create stiffer penalties for hit-and-run drivers.

Williams will be sentenced on April 14. He faces up to four years in prison.

Police say Williams torched his car after the accident to destroy evidence.
