THE BRONX - MLB umpires visited Montefiore Children's Hospital on Wednesday to brighten some kids' day.

The umps brought children stuffed animals from Build-a-Bear Workshop as part of UMPS CARE, a nonprofit that has been putting these events together along with 13 others around the country.

"A lot of these kids deal with a lot of issues but it puts a smile on their face and it takes away from what they're thinking," umpire Tim Welke says.

The organization has made more than 100 visits since 2006.
