THE BRONX - FDNY firefighters honored fallen Battalion Chief Michael Fahy Wednesday by draping a bunting outside their firehouse and holding a moment of silence.
Fahy was killed by debris caused from a house explosion in the Bronx Tuesday while first responders were investigating a reported gas leak.
At least 20 others were injured in the explosion.
Battalion members who served with Fahy, including members of Engine Company 75 and Ladder Company 33, draped the purple and black bunting at the firehouse on Walton Avenue around 10 a.m.
A moment of silence and bagpipe ceremony were also held at the firehouse.
He was a 17-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department and the son of a fire chief.
Fahy leaves behind a wife and three children.
Police say a second man was taken into custody Wednesday in connection to the explosion. Another man was arrested Tuesday in New Jersey.
