THE BRONX - The mother of a slain girl long known as "Baby Hope" is speaking out about the 22-year disappearance of her 4-year-old daughter, Anjelica Castillo.
Margarita Castillo says it was fear and a language barrier that kept her from reporting that her daughter was missing. Castillo says she was separated from two of her three daughters after splitting from her husband.
Castillo says she believed Anjelica was alive and living with relatives, and the other daughter was returned to her in 1995.
Back in 1991, the toddler was found stuffed in a cooler along a Manhattan highway. Police cracked the case over the weekend by arresting a relative who allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting and disposing the body of Baby Hope.
