THE BRONX - The death of a Bronx taxi driver last month is bringing together a community of mourners all the way from Africa.

After a 16-hour flight from Guinea, the driver's mother, Rassy Barry, spent her first day in the Bronx with her eldest son, whom she had not seen for 12 years. Her younger son, Mamadou Barry, was shot and killed last month while driving his livery cab.

Nicholas Sanchez has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the case, and is expected back in court this month. Rassy Barry plans to attend.

"She will see this man and she will be more in pain because it is very painful to see a man who killed your son," Jalloah says.

Mamadou's wife and mother of his three sons says she is honored to care for her mother-in-law while she visits the Bronx.
