MOTT HAVEN - A food pantry in Mott Haven is looking to city officials to help provide funding so that those in need can still get food.

The Everyday is a Miracle at Almond Tree Church on 143rd Street helps feed some 225 families every Friday. People like James Robinson rely on the pantry and say it's a necessity. Robinson says if it wasn't for the pantry he would probably be robbing or stealing for food.

That's why the Food Bank for New York City is pleading for more funding. Officials say anti-hunger programs are significantly underfunded in this year's proposed budget.

Food Bank for New York City officials are calling on city leaders to include $6.2 million in the final budget. They say the money is essential to keeping places like Everyday is Miracle open.
