MTA admits to unreliable service on 'BX 5' bus

THE BRONX - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it is in the process of restructuring the ?BX 5? bus line after heavy criticism by commuters. Commuters complained about the adding and slashing of bus stops, which they said made their rides more confusing. Slow service was another complaint voiced by commuters. The problems developed after the MTA got rid of the ?BX 14? line. The MTA says it has studied the route since the summer and starting in January , the original ?BX 8? route will be restored. The ?BX 24? and ?4A? lines will pick up the former ?BX 14? passengers.

The MTA hopes the changes will help alleviate the bigger crowds that ?BX 5? has seen since the ?BX 14? route was eliminated.
