MTA announces Bronx subway station closures

THE BRONX - The MTA announced several station closures in The Bronx to continue a multimillion-dollar renovation project.

The St. Lawrence Avenue and Elder Avenue stations along the 6 line will temporarily be closed due to construction and repairs.

The closures are part of the MTA's almost $90 million construction project aimed at renovating and reconstructing five stations along the 6 line.

The station upgrades will include mezzanines, canopy roofs track beds, platform edge safety and public address systems.

The MTA says the project will begin on Feb. 28 and should last about eight months.
