THE BRONX - The MTA has begun fumigating several subway stations ? including one on Fordham Road ? after reports that bedbugs have been spotted.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the issue at the Fordham Road station has been ongoing since 2008, when bedbugs were spotted infesting wooden benches.

Straphangers say they?d like the transit agency to replace the old wooden benches with stainless steel ones to help eliminate the bedbugs.
