THE BRONX - The MTA is proposing new measures that would save E-ZPass users money as they prepare to roll out new price hikes on bridges and tunnels.

The transit agency says it wants to make using E-ZPass more attractive by allowing customers to refill their accounts with cash at 2,000 retail locations, letting drivers bypass standard credit card and checking account charges.

City Councilman Jimmy Vacca (D-East Bronx) has already submitted a proposal to the MTA that would allow drivers to refill their E-ZPasses weekly, instead of monthly, and at check-cashing shops.
