MTA to renovate 2 Bronx subway stations next year

THE BRONX - Two of the lowest-rated subway stations in the borough are expected to be renovated early next year, but straphangers say they'll believe it when they see it.

According to Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., the MTA has agreed to renovate both subway stations, beginning in spring 2012. The two stations have long been plagued with water leakage, damaged tiles and no ventilation. People who ride the subway say the improvements are long overdue, but say there's been talk of fixing the stations for years and they have seen no results.

If work begins next year, the renovations are expected to be completed by early 2013.
