THE BRONX - Bronx residents gathered along the Grand Concourse today to honor a man credited with founding hip-hop.

Members of Tats Cru, a group of Bronx-based graffiti artists, honored DJ Kool Herc by designing a mural.

The artists spent three days designing the mural at the corner of the Grand Concourse and 166th Street.

"This mural is important because it pays tribute to the legacy, you know a lot of the young kids now, they have no clue who Cool Herc is," said Bio, of Tats Cru.

DJ Cool Herc is set to perform in Central Park this weekend.
