THE BRONX - Members of the Bangladeshi Muslim community came together in Parkchester Sunday to stand up to discrimination.

The meeting comes on the heels of a recent hate crime where a Muslim man was attacked by several teens who allegedly referenced “ISIS,” the militant Islamic State group.

Community leaders say it is time for people to stop thinking they are terrorists just because of the way they dress or the religion they practice.

They say the only way to completely stop the discrimination is if the Muslim community stands up for themselves and become their own activists against the hatred.

Among those who came out Sunday was Mujibur Rahman, a Muslim man who was attacked by two teens earlier this month while dropping his niece off at school.

He says he believes he was targeted because of the way he was dressed, and that the ignorance has to stop.

The 14- and 15-year-old teens who attacked Rahman were taken into police custody on Wednesday. Their charges are still unknown.
