CASTLE HILL - Volunteers across The Bronx helped others out as part of the National Day of Service to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama asked Americans to volunteer their time Saturday to help those in need as a way of honoring King, whose birthday is being observed on Monday. The president, first lady, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill all took part in service projects in Washington, D.C. today.

In City Island, Councilman Jimmy Vacca (D-The Bronx) and the executive director of City Meals On Wheels made deliveries to senior citizens in the neighborhood.
