NEW YORK - Basketball fans can rejoice today as the NBA opens its doors to players for voluntary workouts.

The move marks the first step toward getting the season under way after league owners and players reached a tentative deal to end the lockout.

The season is set to start Christmas Day with training camp beginning on Dec. 9.
